Midlake chat to I Like Music

TIM: Nah, it was alright. I could have headphones on at work. And it's kind of good for getting absorbed in the music.

ILM: So you could drift off into your own little world?

TIM: Yeah, and it's better than working somewhere like Burger King where you can't have headphones on all day. Eight hours of just constant music and then I'd get off work, have dinner with my wife until about seven o'clock and then go over to the Midlake house and record until late.

ILM: The band has it's own house?!

TIM: We all lived in this house in Denton (Texas) at one time, together, before we were married of course. We spent many years in that house before we started moving out. Since then three of us have gotten married, Eric Nicholson has two children. Two of the guys still live there though.

It's quite an achievement to all still get along and be able to fit jobs and music around family life. If you look at a lot of bands they get to their early thirties, have kids and their priorities change and music slips down the list.
