Muse chat to I Like Music

ILM: You've got shed loads of live festival dates planned over the summer, and headline Carling Weekend. What do you enjoy most about festivals? What's been your favourite festival moment as a punter seeing other bands play?

DOM: The festival vibe is just loose and spontaneous. I mean it's very spontaneous when you play live anyway but when you play a festival often its not your own show, everyone's there to see all the bands on that day, so it feels like a very spontaneous feeling. And it's probably the same for the crowd as well. You're playing in front of people who don't usually see you and the crowd are watching bands they wouldn't usually see. So there's just a kind of unique enjoyment I think, there's a different kind of enjoyment because everyone's there just to have fun, not get too serious.

For bands its cool because you're sharing a stage with a whole bunch of musicians that you probably never would do and it's great just hanging out and meeting people and watching loads of different bands and generally getting inspired by the whole ordeal. Its always fun doing festivals, y'know playing outdoors is always a nice change after you've been touring all winter indoors.
