It gives me an opportunity to truly express myself, unlike what happens in an everyday living situation where there are restrictions on you and limitations on you and demands on you and bills to pay, through music I can truly be comfortable with who I am, and do what I really want to do and say what I really want to say.

Mutya Buena chats to I Like Music

Mutya Buena, founding member of the multi-million selling Sugababes, follows her debut no. 2 hit Real Girl and recent Top 10 Groove Armada collaboration Song 4 Mutya, with the release on October 22nd of her new single Just A Little Bit.

I Like Music caught up with Mutya to chat about her solo material, how she feels having left the Sugababes and what it was like working with George Michael and Amy Winehouse.

I Like Music because.... it's something I've grown up listening to, I enjoy singing I don't think I know what I'd do without music to tell you the truth. It helps me out in so many ways."

ILM: Your new single, Just A Little Bit is out October 22nd. Can you describe its whole vibe and how the track came about? (WATCH THE VIDEO here)

MUTYA: Basically I worked with Ed White who's a great producer. I went to go and work with him so we could start writing some tracks really. I asked if I could hear a few bits and pieces that he had already done; I think I was trying to have a lazy day so I didn't have to do any work except for singing, and he came up with that song. I really enjoyed Just A Little Bit when I heard it, the song had that jazzy feel. It sounded different because it had a different singer on it, but I really loved the track and I asked if I could have it. I think it was my idea of getting out of working, but he's a great producer, he's got great music, he's always had good stuff, so it was nice to take such a good song.
