Pete Tong chats to I Like Music

I Like Music caught up with PETE TONG before he played Le Palais in Cannes ahead taking his Essential Mix radio show to Ibiza for August to talk about choosing a killer track list, his move into making music of his own and examples of it all going 'Pete Tong' for Pete Tong. Read Pete Tong's driving playlist

"I Like Music because… it lifts my spirit." PETE TONG

ILM: Your Pure Pacha album with Sarah Main is out on Gut records now. We enjoyed last years too. You must receive so many records, please describe the Pete Tong process of choosing a killer track list such as this?

PETE: I've probably changed the way I do it to the way I would have approached a compilation a few years back. It's much more about mood creation. Maybe, in the old days, I would've been more hung up about what's the latest thing and what other people haven't got. But now, what I tend to do is, collect things and put them to one side over a longer period of time; some times from the end of the season before. And then, I take a step back and look at an overview of where the sound's going, and then try and take an educated guess at what's likely to be working come the next summer.
