ReCoup started life during 2003 when Pieter Theron joined Adam Hyslop (keyboards/ drums) and Paul Errington (Guitars) on a project of writing and producing fresh original music. Initially they were creating mainly experimental studio work, fusing electronic music with live guitars, drums and vocals, and played live sets under the name Coup.
Paul and Adam departed from the project in 2004, at which point Mat Wood (blipscreen) on guitars and Alida Stadler (Delta Blue) on drums, joined forces with Pieter to create the current line up of ReCoup.

I Like Music caught up with Pieter and Mat for a quick chat ...
ilm: Your new album 'Worthwhile' is out this month. Can you give us your own personal description of it whole vibe?
Pieter: Our aim is to create something truly unique and fresh by combining different genres like electronic music with rock and others. When we started our name was "Coup" which also means "a brilliant feat of action" ReCoup is sort of the re-invention / invigoration of coup and we still try and do something new. We do not deliberately mix different styles, we just use whatever we think fits a specific sound or tune. Tricky to explain with words though….that's why you've got to listen to it yourself!
