Robyn chats to I Like Music

ILM: At the age of 13 you were discovered by Swedish pop singer Meja when singing a sad, self-written song about your parents' divorce in a school workshop and then you were immediately signed to BMG. You also sang on the massive hit 'Show Me Love' in 1997. You were obviously very young at this time, how did that affect you as an artist?

ROBYN: It was definitely a special time in my life and of course it has had a big affect on my life, but, in what way it is very hard for me to say. You can never look back and say 'this did that' and 'because of that this happened'. You never know. A big reason why I can do what I'm doing now is because I started early. I would lie if I said it wasn't a complicated situation, getting famous and working hard at such a young age is a special situation. But I was well prepared compared to a lot of other people, because I grew up in a theatre family and there was always a discussion about expression, art and culture and performance in my home, so for me going into this world, I did it in a pure kind of way because it was always about the music.
