SWAY chats to I Like Music

There's never an excuse to be doing some of the things that some people do. Once you live negative you surround negativity around you and you'll not be able to get out of that situation. Music is just one option, there's loads of things man, there's university and colleges, you know, you could become a doctor. Everybody is born with a skill, that's what I believe man, and sometimes it could take anything to extract that skill from you.

ILM: You've been nominated for two MOBOs this year and were shortlisted for this year's Mercury Music Prize which is a credible award, so your album is one of the best 12 of the year. How does that feel?

SWAY: You know what? When they first did the nominations I was getting off a plane and I got it on a text message. It was crazy for me man, I was totally overwhelmed. I couldn't believe that out of all the album that had been picked, and more so, mine was the only urban project that got through this year. And the majority of people, supporters, people who listen to all sorts of music were really behind me and supporting me with it, and thought there was a really big possibility I could have won it this year, so even the fact that people thought that I could possibly have won it, that's crazy for me. This is a project that started in my bedroom and it's called This Is My Demo hence the fact that I was trying to give it to the people and not the record labels.
