Sean Lennon chats to I Like Music

ILM: Can you describe the Sean Lennon process of making such exquisite music please?

SEAN: Oh, that's so sweet. Um, it's kind of boring y'know, it's not that interesting really. I have a piano and a guitar and I tend to switch back and forth between those two instruments to kind of help me get inspired, if I'm running out of juice on one I'll go back to the guitar or go back to the piano. And I like to have books around just to give me ideas and the verbal part of my brain, to start that working. I have lots of notebooks, I'm always writing down lines and words that sound cool to me. I do it every day, a little bit, like an hour a day or something I just try to write or play at least, so it's kind of systematic. For me songwriting is kind of like something I have to do ritually. I don't just wait for inspiration basically; I try to write a little bit every day
