Sean Lennon chats to I Like Music


ILM: So you're exercising your songwriting muscle?

SEAN: Yeah, I think it's kind of like a craft. It's not something that just comes in a dream or something. Sometimes it does, and that's great, but it doesn't always so you've got to work at it.

ILM: In between albums you've collaborated musically with Yoko Ono, Money Mark from the Beastle Boys, John Zorn, Ryan Adams, among others. Who's at the top of your dream collaboration list?

SEAN: So many people really. I think collaborating is, for me, a really important part. In order to get better at art, you have to surround yourself with people that are good, that's how you learn I think. But I couldn't point out anyone specific. I did want to record with Jon Bryan, and I got to do that, but it would be nice to make a whole record with him actually. That would be great!

ILM: And it must have been great to do something musically with your mum?

SEAN: Yeah with my mum, I feel very lucky that I get to have that kind of relationship with her, because I know a lot of people don't.page << 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 >>
