Simian Mobile Disco chat to I Like Music

So you've got to make sure you trust them to do it right. It's foolish to think you can have control over everything. You should be concentrating on making music. If you want to run a record label, then run a record label.

ILM: What ambitions do you have left to achieve?

JAS: Yeah loads. One of the things I really want to do next… we recorded all of this in a small little room which was constantly a mess, so it'd be nice to build a slightly better equipped proper studio. There are so many things we'd like to do. It's more a case of maintaining being able to make any kind of music we like.

I know that's the difficult thing, you can get press-ganged into trying things out and then it becomes a job, and once it becomes a job it's not fun anymore. I'd rather have a job making music that I love than my job being making music that I'm not that into. There's nothing worse than half-arsed music.
