Soul of Man chats to I Like Music

ILM: Have you got a second career choice? If you weren't running a label what would you be doing? Was there ever a Plan B?

Justin: I went to Art College so I was always going to pursue something in the arts. I had a sideline of organising parties when I was 15, so there was a junction point of 'Do I do art or business?' I tried to combine the two and somehow the music took over. I think what I would like to be doing, because I live in Brighton now, is something community related. The Brighton Festival is coming up in May, I would like to be involved in that but outside the music, a broader range, like entertainment and culture and working with people in the local area. It's not what I would have wanted to have been doing in the past but with what I have learnt I could apply the business skills and art knowledge to that sort of thing.

ILM: You are responsible for overseeing the running of the label and Jem is responsible for the distinctive artwork and the in house, so ultimately you are living your dream career now. I wondered what your advice was for young people in pursuing their dream career. Not necessarily in the music industry, just in general?
