Hey there a Big 209 - jittersHaving worked, performed and travelled successfully with each other for years we gave Rob Birch and Nick Hallam, of Stereo MCs fame, the chance to interview each other. Turning their creative partnership inside-out especially for ilikemusic, we find out what it is that makes them tick, gain an insight into the magic of their chemistry and find out answers to questions we'd never dare ask…
Nick's Questions To Rob
Nick: Why do you think a lot of people think you are some kind of drug casualty, when in fact you are, and always have been, probably one of the most health conscious people I know ?
Rob: Because I lose myself when I'm on the mike. I carry no excess weight and my demeanor is mistaken for a crack head. Or it's because I look like someone they know who gets wasted backstage.
Nick: What's more important to you, respect or success?
Rob: I used to think it was respect but I found success achieved that anyway, as well as many other things, some useful some not. But you get to travel, meet people and your music gets heard. As long as you don't get lazy it just gets better with success. Most of the stuff you hear about money is true, so I try not to think about it and be thankful for my present standpoint.
