Team Waterpolo Chat To I Like Music

ILM: What is the Team Waterpolo process for making music? How do you all work together?

Lex: Writing our songs has been a slightly different process each time, depending on where we are and what equipment we have available to us. An old favourite method that still works for us is Garageband (free software). It's quite basic, but it's great for writing demos that we can then re-work in the studio. We have used other programs to write music too, but Garageband is so easy to use that it's normally the best way if we're squeezing in some writing before getting back on the road for more touring. We all work together really well, we don't assign each other to specific parts of songwriting or anything, if any of us has an idea for lyrics, melodies or arrangements etc. we'll normally agree and try it out.

ILM: What was it like working with Dave McCracken? What did you learn from him?

Lex: Working with Dave was an awesome learning experience for all of us, he was the first producer we'd ever worked with since we started making music. He was really on the same wavelength as us, in tune with our visions and he got what we were trying to do with it. He was easy to get along and work with, he's wwwwwwicked.
