The Charlatans chat to I Like Music


TIM: That is good that, people still being able to identify with the band.

ILM: I think people always will be able to. You'll be rocking into your 90s.

TIM: Yeah, I can't wait.

ILM: And the music'll get darker and darker…

MARTIN: I've already got my leather waistcoat. [Laughs]. When we did Wonderland a lot of people who I met afterwards when we were touring, they thought it was our first or second album. They didn't realize there was a procession of albums before that.

ILM: That's good because then you get the fresh new fans and the die hard ones too.

MARTIN & TIM: Yeah, exactly yeah.

ILM: And are you able to stop and smell the roses and enjoy the journey more so now than when you were younger?

TIM: I appreciate the band, but I still don't feel like we've achieved everything we want to achieve.

ILM: And what are your plans for the summer. Any festivals?

TIM: A couple in Spain and we're playing Oxygen in Ireland and T in the Park …

MARTIN… and the V Festival, and then we're off to Japan for the Sizzler Sonic.

The band also tour in April and May. And, with that, the band are whisked off for more interviews before getting ready to bring their music to the masses - live. Simpatico is released on April 17th, preceded by Blackened Blue Eyes.
