The Cooper Temple Clause chat to I Like Music

The whole process of going through and working was very difficult and very strenuous, but, by the time we got round to listen to what we'd done we were immensely proud and thought we were really going places. I think we really learned ourselves that … we'd always been a band that wanted to progress from album to album but that doesn't come easily, you have to work at it, and work hard and that's what we picked up on this album, because we were adamant we weren't going to rest on our laurels this time round. We were determined not to make the same album again. That would've been the biggest disappointment for everyone involved.

ILM: You've been making music for some time and have been through the rollercoaster ride of being signed, dropped, but continuing to do well… what's your advice to young musicians just starting out?

DAN: The most important thing is to just do what you do with honesty. Don't pander to anyone. You've got to be true to yourself and honest and you've got to do something that comes from the heart. Stick to your ideals, and if it catches on, fantastic, and if it doesn't catch on, it was never meant to be. But when you make music for other people and to pander to other people's ideals of what your music should be, then you lose any ability to judge your own work.
