  • Ellen, Los CampesinosEllen, Los Campesinos: ilikemusic because... It’s the best form of escapism that you can have wherever you are. You could be completely miserable or waiting for a bus and put on any song that inspires you and you can escape into a little world, well that’s what I tend to do anyway.

The Coral chat to I Like Music

ILM: Of all the tracks on Roots and Echoes which track did you have the most fun laying down in the studio?

JAMES: Not So Lonely was good, but they were all driving the band really hard, so… In The Rain was a good one, we just knocked that out, but all of them we were working hard on them and wanted them to be perfect, so the fun came after, the fun comes when you've done the track really.

ILM: You went away with Ian Broudie and recorded two tracks. And then Noel Gallagher said you could use his studio for nothing." How did that come about?

JAMES: Yeah it was, it was a good opportunity for us to do that, because there are loads of us. So to take us away somewhere then we have to get the accommodation and it just costs so much, but because he did that, it enabled us to record loads of songs and drop some if we didn't want them.

ILM: So you had more freedom I guess?

JAMES: Yeah, and a bit less pressure.
