The Young Knives chat to I Like Music

After the recent and hugely exciting Mercury music prize nomination for their 2006 debut album, 'Voices of Animals & Men' and hectic year of touring, touring and more touring, The Young Knives are now working on album number two.

I Like Music caught up with Oliver Askew from The Young Knives to talk about their new single, forthcoming album and recording at Castle Of Doom.

I Like Music because.... it evokes a mood and a feeling of when you last heard the track." OLIVER, YOUNG KNIVES

ILM: Your new single, 'Terra Firma' is out now (released October 29). Can you describe it's whole vibe and how the track came about?

OLIVER: Being the drummer, the vibe I felt, well - we went through a sort of Gary Numan-esque, Tubeway Army sort of feel in terms of beats. But, lyrically we've decided on the meaning since we've written the track. When we wrote it, we thought this is just gibberish, but the snake is our metaphor for bad drug things and the rabbit is what you want the drug to be. It's a metaphorical thing, which is what we've decided it means.
