I Like Music because.... it lets my adrenalin start pumping, it gets aggression out, and sometimes I can actually get emotional with it. There are many reasons why I like music." SCOTT GORHAM, THIN LIZZY
ILM: Some of your most classic tunes include Boys Are Back In Town, Whisky In The Jar, Jailbreaker… Can you tell us how Boys Are Back In Town came about?
SCOTT: The classic one, Boys Are Back In Town, that was absolutely inspired through one of the really early tours we did of America. Phil, as a writer and a real explicit stoical writer, Phil was really taken back by America, especially New York, LA, Texas and San Francisco, and that song was a direct result of the first or second tour that we did of America; being in the bars and casinos, bar and grill and all that, getting together on a Saturday night and all that. It's a direct inspiration from actually touring in America. The funny thing is I've had journalists ask me if it's some sort of covert IRA song, which it definitely isn't, it's just that good time Saturday night partying song, and it had a really great lyric to it that Phil wrote. And that was probably the first time the harmony guitars actually kicked in in a big way and the public at large really noticed it.
