Tim Westwood Chats To I Like Music #2

Tim Westwood, one of the biggest representatives of UK hip hop, rap, urban and RnB has been gracing our airwaves for some time now, via BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra. With an abundance of experience under his belt, Westwood now takes over the drivetime show on 1Xtra, Mon-Fri, 4pm-7pm.

I Like Music caught up with Westwood to chat about the new show, UK hip hop, some of the best moments in his career so far and the key ingrediants for a perfect hip hop track.

"I Like Music because… but especially rap music because… it's the most powerful music in the world. It's certainly influenced my life, it's defined my life and who I am. It's all about sending out a powerful message. Rap music has a whole culture and lifestyle with it. It talks directly to you and I think it's just incredibly powerful music and an important voice to the community" TIM WESTWOOD

ILM: What can we expect from your new show on 1Xtra?

Westwood: I want the show to be fun. I want it to be entertaining. I want it to be funny, or give you something to think about. I come from the background of ripping it down on a Saturday night on Radio 1 and getting people amped for the club, the Saturday night party vibe, that's what I do, that's where I come from. Also representing the hip hop. What I want to do Monday to Friday 4-7pm is come through with a show that's fun...
