Trip Chats To I Like Music

ILM: How about the sounds?

Trip: The sound is a mash up of genres I love and have grown up on. Britpop, rave, dance music. I've always been into dubstep, grime and drum n bass. The heart of the record is punk music. Punk and grime. It's hard to compartmentalise, there is a lot going on throughout the record! If I had to pick a genre I'd say punk and grime.

ILM: How would you describe the Trip process of making music?

Trip: It's always a little bit different. Sometimes I can just hear a few words and it will cement in my head. A word, phrase or saying can trigger off a whole song. Someone can tell me a funny story and I'll think "Christ, that would make a really good subject for a song." That was the case for River Phoenix. It's based on my best friend and the disaster day that he had with this girl! She found out that River Phoenix had died and he never got to kiss her or see her again. He told me that in passing and it turned into a song! But the process did differ throughout the record.
