Underworld interview

Q1) So, first things first, it's been quite a while since the last studio album - what have you been up to for the past few years?

A1) We've been moving studios, building a house, playing some gigs, creating a book, started webcasting live from our studio, spending time with the families and writing music - all the things we're always doing.

Q2) Why did you decide to fast forward past all the usual, traditional pre-promotion that acts and labels invest so much time and money into nowadays and just spring your new tracks onto your fans?

A2) We decided that we wanted a change from the same old ways of writing, promoting and releasing music. We wanted to be able to release more material, and when we feel like it not when someone else's schedule dictates. Sitting down and putting 8 to 10 tracks together isn't something we're into at the moment, we want to be a little looser and agile. The internet allows us to do that and with no scheduling constraints, the timing's right.

Q3) Many artists nowadays see the revolution of the mp3 and digitally downloadable media has ruined the music industry - obviously you both think otherwise - what made you embrace this part of the industry so whole heartedly?
