Wolfmother chat to I Like Music

Chris: It very interestingly came from the big wigs. Jimmy, the owner of Interscope was talking personally with Steve Jobs and gave him a copy of all our music and then Steve said, yeah, I like Love Train and lets check this out and then decided to use the song, so that was a bit of a trip. It works for us.

But I remember at a show a couple of weeks ago, and Andrew was like, 'This is Love Train' and I heard someone say, 'It's the iPod song', and I thought, 'no it's not, it's our song, they're just using it.' That's alright though, people make all sorts of associations but at the time I was like, 'no, it's ours!'

ILM: You've also got a hugely varied fan-base - a unique feat in todays music market.

Chris: Yeah, we noticed that right from the start. Our first support was glam rock bands and they were totally into us, and our next show we played with Death From Above (I love what they're doing, they're fantastic) and they were really into it as well. We were getting crowds of these really cool inner city kids with the right clothes and right haircut and stuff, and then standing next to them could be their dad or something. It's really cool, and maybe that also comes from the fact that all of us like such a wide spectrum of music as well. I like old 1960s Atlantic minimal blues, like Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin right through to the Beatles and Pink Flloyd. And I also like The Cars through to ACDC and the Beastie Boys. All of it effects you in some way in the writing process.
