Supergrass Live @ Southampton Guildhall

Review By Seige

Firstly; Happy Birthday boys!

Supergrass is 10, as the title of their new 'Best of...' album proclaims.

Man, that makes me feel old. And yet, at the same time, Supergrass never fail to make me feel eternally youthful.

All the hits were here, as would be expected from a band touring a Best Of album.

Although the new single 'Kiss of Life' had people turning to their mates, nodding in appreciation and proclaiming 'Ooo, this is a bit...funky!'

The album 'In it for the Money' - (inexplicably overlooked by the record buying public, but once proclaimed by Dave Grohl to be his favourite album ever) - provided the best songs of the evening.

The band opened with the title track from 'In it for the Money' before tear-arsing through 'Richard III'.

Gaz Coombes intermittently apologised for his voice being 'weird', although we couldn't tell the difference.

It must be said that the crowd - often a difficult-to-impress bunch in Southampton - took a while to get going.
