Toby: ilikemusic because... it helps me get my groove on!
Sylvia Powell: ilikemusic because... It can make me happy yet it can make me feel sad. It helps me remember, but it can also make me forget. Most of all I like music because it makes me feel alive.
Ali Campbell, UB40: ilikemusic because... It’s supposed to bring people together.
ASHUNDA: ilikemusic because... I like positive music for it leads the joys with life
Seaney Devereux: ilikemusic because... there's a song for every emotion and music creates debate and debate is what brings us together, it breaks down the walls that seperate sterotypes and it's always involved in your favourite youth memories.
Kai, Mystery Jets: ilikemusic because... Music makes me smile.
Taio Cruz: ilikemusic because... It’s my life and it’s the air that I breathe. It calms me when I’m feeling uptight and it’s there for me when I want to party if I want to listen to something up tempo, it’s just amazing in any situation. That’s why I like music!
Lady Sovereign: ilikemusic because... I do!
Patrick: ilikemusic because... Music came from the universe...always finding a way into societies from the beginning of time. I imagine it has always been out there waiting for us to show up. I'm so glad we made it! The Red Hot Chilis paid a visit to London's Hyde Park on the weekend of June 19/20th - and what a treat! The best live band on the planet didn't disappoint, even if you were one of the few concerned about the volume and sound (ie not loud enough due to the wind), or the weather (grey and cloudy with one downpour, but a proviso of a gorgeous sunset and moody setting for a ravishingly rad RHCP performance), or, indeed the first support act to grace the stage the Chicks on Speed. Ok, so they the talent quotient appears fairly low, but at least their flurescent outfits and zany, robotic 'I am playing my guitar' lyrics and franetic antics brightened the place up.
Sadly, they were booed off stage (a cringeworthy experience I always find - crap or not - respect is due to any performer taking to any stage anywhere - and Flea agreed as he said 'F**k you!' to the 'booers'). Next up was the Godfather of Soul, one elderly James Brown, who still managed to show off some fancy footwork and croon a few lines inbetween the 'ows' and 'yeahs' - and gave the crowd a real treat with 'Soul Man' and 'Get On Up', leaving out crowd-favourite 'Living In America' (perhaps because of the current political climate and Flea's forthcoming anti-Bush statements). The dazzling band, soul diva backing singers, and James Brown's reassuringly static 70s hair style had us all 'gettin on down' and enjoying the vibe - Yeah baby!
