Fatboy Slim News

NOT RIGHT NOW, NOT EVER!

Fatboy Slim and Skint Records are powerless to stop the Labour Party using 'Right Here Right Now'

The Labour Party have adopted Fatboy Slim's 'Right Here Right Now' as their new rabble rousing election anthem.

Trumpeting Blair's arrival on stage at the Labour Party Conference and booming out of their election bus up in Hartlepool, it seems that Labour have taken 'Right Here Right Now' to their hearts.

Not that Fatboy Slim and Skint Records have much choice in the matter. Political parties are free to use any music they like as long as they pay their PPL and PRS. Unbelievably they are not required to get any special permission. It is particularly galling given Norman Cook's anti-war stance.

With Blair in charge, you do wonder if Fatboy's remix of Wildchild's 'Renegade Master' would be more suitable in the circumstances.

It's not the first time that Fatboy Slim's music has been used for political ends. On the other side of the Atlantic, Democrat presidential hopeful Al Gore used 'Praise You' at every opportunity in his '99 campaign. And we all know what happened to Al Gore's election ambitions!
