In the 6th episode in the Orange Playlist series, this week sees the Manic Street Preachers' controversial bassist, Nicky Wire quizzed by host Lauren Laverne.
Renowned for thought provoking, critically acclaimed albums and hit singles including 'A Design for Life', 'Everything Must Go' and 'The Love of Richard Nixon', which entered the charts this week at Number 2, - this is a rare opportunity for Manic fans to hear the views of Nicky straight from the horses' mouth.
Will his musical choices reflect the issues that the band holds dear or will he surprise all with a love of chart pop? Tune in to ITV1, Thursday at midnight to find out.
Nicky doesn't disappoint with his track from the past - 'The Public Image' by Public Image Limited. Nicky tells Lauren how he came to love this song - "I remember thinking this song just seemed an amazing re-invention really, to go from the Pistols to this, I thought it was a brand new sound. You had Keith Levine's heroine infused spiky guitar and Johnny warbling about it all. It just kind of mixed together dub and reggae with post punk - it's just a truly amazing record - I don't think there's ever been a record like Public Image."
