Ali Campbell Quits UB40 Due To Management Problems

Ali Campbell, lead singer of UB40, is quitting the band after almost 30 years, the band has confirmed. Ali cites 'concerns over administration of the band' as his main reason for leaving. Birmingham band UB40 are famous for introducing reggae and dub to the masses; their hits including Rat In My Kitchen were huge hits with Red, Red Wine, I Got You Babe, and Can't Help Falling In Love topping the charts for the band who formed in 1978.

UB40 sold over 70 million records and had two UK number one albums in Labour of Love and Promises and Lies.

The existing seven members will continue to record and perform together, according to a band spokesman.

Here is Ali Campbell's open letter to fans:

To The Fans -

As one of the founder members of UB40, I have put the band first in my life for the last 28 years and am deeply saddened at the ending of that relationship. No words can express how upset I feel today that I have been forced to make this decision.
