Amnesty International Launches Unsubscribe Campaign featuring Waterboarding Film
Stuff Of Life, which is a call to action for the Unsubscribe campaign, concludes with an internet-style sequence where the viewer is invited to click on a button (metaphorically in cinemas, for real when online) to "Unsubscribe" from human rights abuse. Traffic is directed to the Drugstore-designed Unsubscribe online campaign hub, where they are encouraged to "Unsubscribe" from human rights abuse and take part in online actions to defend human rights. Since the site's launch in October, Unsubscribe has had hundreds of thousands of online visitors, and thousands of people are currently taking part in Amnesty human rights actions every week.
Drugstore Managing Partner Marc Cave said:
"Imagine sitting in a darkened cinema and seeing this film. It'll lull you, then unnerve you, then gobsmack you. I think 'The Stuff Of Life' will bring thousands of new Unsubscribers on board".
The film was directed and produced by critically award winning film-makers Marc Hawker and Ishbel Whitaker (producers of David LaChappelle's Oscar short-listed "RIZE" and directors of "Living Godess"). Post-production house Prime Focus London donated a significant amount of time to create the Flame effects, led by Flame artist James Maclachlan. The film's opening water sequences were created by specialist effects company Pennicott Payne (PPL), which also worked on the underwater crash sequence in "The Bourne Supremacy" and the famous Radiohead "No Surprises" video. PPL used one of only two Phantom HD cameras available in Europe, which allowed them to capture shots of flowing water at ultra-slow speeds.
