Amy Winehouse Will Play Glastonbury Festival 2008

Due to perform directly before the Saturday night Pyramid stage headliner Jay-Z, the festival organisers say they have "total faith" in Amy Winehouse.

Speaking to newsbeat about the recent developments on the festival line up, Emily Eavis from the Glastonbury Festival supported her performance.

She said: "I have total faith, I think she'll come and deliver."

"This is one of the biggest sets of the summer, supporting the most anticipated artist at Glastonbury in the past 38 years."

Despite recent controversy surrounding the personal life of Amy Winehouse, Emily Eavis continued, quite rightly, to focus on her music.

Eavis said: "I don't know how much is hot air from the press and how much is reality but she is pretty reliable actually.

"It's her personal life and no-one really knows the extent of what she's up to and I don't think it should be public knowledge.

"We all know she's a brilliant performer and I think that's what we should be focusing on."

Hopefully, this addition to the line-up may boost the ticket sales for the festival, which is normally a sold out event. Michael Eavis, the founder of the festival, puts the bad ticket sales down to the terrible weather during the run of the last two festivals. However, some critics have blamed the line-up for the lack of interest this year.

If, however, you are yet to be convinced, Glastonbury is not the only festival where you can catch a performance by the UK soul-supreme.

Amy Winehouse has shows planned at T In The Park and V Festival and is set to headline Bestival on the Isle of Wight on 6 September. She will also be travelling around Europe this summer, with Portugal's Rock In Rio on 30 May, Ireland's Oxegen and Rock en Seine in Paris.
