Arctic Monkeys and The Killers Scoop Brits Double

Snow Patrol followed with their Chasing Cars single, highlighting what a great year for music 2006 has been. Other stand out performances at the ceremony came from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Amy Winehouse, Corinne Bailey Rae (who also performed alongside John Legend at the Grammys) and the outstanding Oasis.

Oasis were given the outstanding contribution to music award by host Russell Brand before performing several songs, including Don't Look Back In Anger and Cigarettes And Alcohol. Their performance received a standing ovation and rightly so.

This is the first time the Brits was screened live since 1989 and ITV executives will be pleased that the event went without any major stage invasion or embarrassing incidents. A fantastic year for British music and long may it continue!
