WINNER OF BACARDI DJ SIGNED TO TOOLROOM RECORDS WITH WINNING TUNE ‘FUNKED UP R’

FROM BEDROOM DJ TO BACARDI DJ JETTING OFF TO MIAMI

Bedroom DJ, Ross Mackerrcher, from Edinburgh, beat 9,000 young hopefuls to win BACARDI DJ 2005, after creating the track Funked Up R on the original online music mixer and DJ contest, www.bacardidj.co.uk. His energetic funk-fuelled house tune united him with one of the UK's most respected DJ/Producers, Allister Whitehead, with the fruits of their labour set to explode as the B-side on Allister's new Heaven single signed to Toolroom Records. Both tracks will be kept under wraps until March's Winter Music Conference in Miami.

Ross worked with Allister Whitehead after making it through to the final of the BACARDI DJ competition. They spent a day together in the Point Blank studio where they remixed his funky house tune. Allister Whitehead says "It's great to be involved with up and coming music producers, and Bacardi rum is really aiming to launch some serious new talent through Bacardi DJ."

As the winner of BACARDI DJ 2005, Ross will be heading out to the Winter Music Conference, hanging out with Allister Whitehead and the rest of the dance music world's movers and shakers. "I'm going to learn as much as I can about the industry first hand, and use this experience with Bacardi DJ and Allister as a springboard for my musical career," says Ross.
