The brainchild of legendary artist and producer Dr. Dre and Interscope Geffen A&M Chairman Jimmy Iovine, these high-quality headphones have become popular among high-profile artists including Eminem, P Diddy, Will.i.am, and N.E.R.D and have been featured in music videos from Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas, Esmee Denters, Pussycat Dolls and many more
The journey of Beats by Dr. Dre began over two and a half years ago, when Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine joined forces with the audio experts at Monster, including 'Head Monster' Noel Lee.
The three men all shared a common frustration: the inadequate sound of normal headphones, which just couldn't deliver the full sounds of today's music and digital audio tracks the way the artists intended. When artists record their music, they listen back in studio on high-performance loudspeakers and high-powered amps, and they create lush musical soundscapes with layers of high and low-frequency sound. This is the power and experience the Beats team wanted to re-create in their new headphones.
By using advanced speaker design and powered isolation technology, they created Beats by Dr. Dre - headphones finally capable of delivering the power, clarity and deep bass that artists and producers want you to hear.
Dre says of his new technology, "Artists and producers work hard in the studio perfecting their sound, but people can't really hear it with normal headphones. With Beats, people are going to hear what the artists hear and listen to the music the way they should - the way I do."
Look out for Beats By Dre; the studio and tour editions in an HMV store near you very soon!
