What are you up to this summer? Same old, same old? How about putting on your own event, getting into some of this years hottest festivals for free and meeting top bands backstage- at the same time as giving your CV a massive boost? By being part of ActionAids Bollocks to Poverty: Work It! competition, you could have the chance to do just that.
International anti-poverty charity ActionAid has joined together with leading music site Gigwise to launch a new competition, encouraging people all over the UK to put on an event in their area and adding it to the renowned Bollocks to Poverty line up.
The event can be anything, such as a house party or club night, a fashion show or a gig with a line-up of the best unsigned bands in town. To be in the running, it just has to take place before August 10th 2009, with the best, rather than the biggest, event taking top prize.
Entries for Bollocks to Poverty: Work it! will be judged by a top panel of experts, including Laurent Barnard from electrifying Brit punk band Gallows and the team at Gigwise. In order to judge the best event, ActionAid are asking entrants to blog about their event on its website, using loads of photos and sharing the experience from start to finish with the world the good bits and the bad! The winner will be the blogger who attracts a mixture of the most votes and blog comments from the public and who makes the judges feel as though they were actually there.
