Brit Awards 2006 - The Winners
The Brit Awards ceremony took place on February 15th 2006. Watch the Brit Awards on ITV1 on Thursday 16th February at 8pm.
The Kaiser Chiefs, who've sold a million copies in the UK of their debut album, Employment, won three Brits for best British group, best British rock act and best live act. The Leeds boys opened the show with their hit I Predict A Riot.
Prince stole the show with a performance of his 1980s classic "Purple Rain." While Coldplay, Gorillaz, Kelly Clarkson, and Kanye West also performed.
James Blunt took home the award for Best Male and KT Tunstall took home Best Female, with Madonna Best International Female.
Accepting his award James Blunt joked, "Now I've won best British male maybe that will remind me I should sing more like a man in future. I promise to do so."
Green Day and Coldplay collected two awards each. On accepting the band's award, Chris Martin dropped to his knees and told the audience, "It's hard for us sometimes because we're English and we don't get to admit that we are great, so tonight we'd like to agree with you for giving us this award."
