Cheltenham Jazz Festival 2010
Running from April 28th to May 3rd 2010, this year's Cheltenham Jazz Festival boasts six days of the world's finest jazz and features its most exciting line up to date.
Piano playing superstar Jamie Cullum has been invited to be the Festival's first ever Guest Director and has personally selected some of his favourite artists from across the musical spectrum to perform. His choices range from dynamic Norwegian group Beady Belle to a battle of the beats club night with jazz drummer Seb Rochford and beatbox pioneer Shlomo.
Cheltenham prides itself on providing unique festival experiences and in 2010 an exclusive collaboration between retro soul starlet Paloma Faith and The Guy Barker Orchestra promises to be a spectacular highlight. Paloma burst onto the music scene in 2009 with a top ten debut album and a string of hit singles and she comes to Cheltenham for a special one off performance of some of her favourite jazz songs. This is a real coup for Cheltenham and is sure to be a stunning concert.
Internationally renowned actress, recording artist, producer and broadcaster Elaine Paige is also set to light up the Festival with a two-show celebration of her love of classic jazz. The first lady of musical theatre performs at the Town Hall and the Daffodil Restaurant for what will be her only UK shows of 2010.
For another dose of star-studded decadence, join a celebration of the Ratpack as Sir Michael Parkinson presents Frank Sinatra; All Or Nothing At All. A stellar cast led by Curtis Stigers, Buddy Greco and Alexander Stewart promises an unpredictable journey through the songbook of arguably the greatest jazz singer of all time.
This remarkable collection of artists represents just a sample of the 2010 Barclays Cheltenham Jazz Festival, a programme that offers something for everyone.
"With six days of amazing jazz, blues, pop, club and world music this looks set to be the biggest and most varied line-up yet. Whether you are a jazz-fanatic, or just love live music - you will be sure to find something to delight in the 2010 line-up." - Ian George, Executive Director

I Like Music because...
Dogu, Ancient Astronauts: I Like Music because… it is the language of the world. Even if you do not understand the lyrics of a song you can still feel it. It is healing. Nothing can bring together people from different races and cultures more easily than music.

Peter Cincotti: I Like Music because... Of what the world would be without it. It’d be a very scary place. I think we’d all be screwed.
Sean Lennon: I Like Music because… it's the only invisible art form.
Alessi's Ark: I Like Music because… it's your best friend.
Mark Owen: I Like Music because... it tells the story of my life.
Eliza Doolittle: I Like Music because… it gives me feelings I search for all the time through other aspects of life that are so difficult to find, so thank you for music!
