Christina Aguilera supported by Nizlopi Live Review

Nizlopi set the uplifting tone, supporting Christina on her Back To Basics tour, and swing happily through a top notch set including their famous JCB song, plus tracks from ExtraOrdinary, including Yesterday, Homage To Youg Men and Helen. They command the stage and set the mood for what is to come - a fantastic opener from an extraordinary band.

After the life-affirming gentleness of Nizlopi, the crowd are hungry for some vocal acrobatics and Christina doesn't disappoint. The petite singer rides on stage on top of a moving star, in her white silk suit, flanked by athletic dancers, and slams right into Ain't No Other Man. A funky sassy way to start the show, the following few songs however are less meaty, less catchy and less inspiring but do showcase Christina's flawless voice over the brass band backing her.

Great choreography and costumes (though not a patch on Madonna's recent show, despite Jamie King, Madonna's choreographer being responsible for that element of the show) add to the chic, bold and brassy flavour that Christina exudes. The first 40 minutes of the gig include a variety of ballads and up-tempo tracks from Christina's latest album, Back To Basics.
