Coldplay And Dizzee Hold On To Their Top Spots

Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends, the latest album from UK band Coldplay, has held on to its top spot in the UK album charts for the fifth week in a row.

The album has recently been certified double platinum, which translates as over 600,000 copies of the record being sold.

Though impressive, Coldplay's album is not the biggest seller of the year. This accolade instead goes to Duffy. Her debut album Rockferry, currently at number two in the album chart, has sold almost one million copies to date and has remained a permanent feature in the UK album chart since it's release.

In the singles chart Dizzee Rascal holds onto the top spot for a second week. Dance Wiv Me, a collaboration with producer Calvin Harris and singer Chrome has fought off tough competition from Basshunter. After the huge success of their last single Now You're Gone, the Swedish dance act are currently at number two with All I Ever Wanted, after rising one spot in the chart this week.

Jordin Sparks, the former winner of American Idol is at number three with No Air, her duet with Chris Brown.

The highest new entry in this weeks top 40 was from Kid Rock. His latest single All Summer Long, based on Lynyrd Skynyrd's Sweet Home Alabama, came in at number six.

Kooks, Last Shadow Puppets and Texas singer Sharleen Spiteri all came in as new entries to the top 40 singles this week.

Looking back to the album chart Partie Traumatic, the debut album from US indie band Black Kids, came in at number five. The only other new entry was at number nine with Modern Guilt by Beck.

The greatest change in the chart comes in the huge leap made by Abba. Their greatest hits album Gold has jumped from 43 to 12 due to the publicity surrounding the Mamma Mia! film. The cast recording of the stage show also makes an appearance in the album charts at number 35.
