Inspired by the parlour game 'consequences', in which participants write a story or draw a figure without seeing each other's input, each part of the song - drums, bass, guitar, vocals, etc - was recorded by artists unaware of what had been laid down before.
Produced by Paul Epworth, the track was built layer by layer to create a bombastic Phil Spector-esque Wall of Sound. With driving guitars from The Enemy, a Beach Boys bassline from Andy Rourke (The Smiths), vocals from Weller and Ditto, thumping beats from Supergrass drummer Danny Goffey, and a guitar-bending solo from Graham Coxon, the track is a fusion of Motown and indie rock.
- Vocals - Beth Ditto, Paul Weller, Tahita Bulmer (New Young Pony Club), Pearl Lowe
