Sarah Christine: ilikemusic because... Music is like a puzzle. Each peice by itself is unique and looks like no other puzzle peice, but when you put it all together, you expeirience a completely different picture. It's on an almost daily basis that I find myself getting lost in my music, and I love it!

Jun: ilikemusic because... music can convey a mood, enhance a mood or change a mood. Music can be used to inspire and the artform is simple yet complicated. It's fun to listen to and even more fun to create and perform. It speaks when just a simple word can't. It's a blessing!!
vickki: ilikemusic because... it makes mii wanna get up and dance and because when u kno the words u can't help but sing along and that makes u feel happy !!!Some press are questioning Sandi Thom's rise to fame as hyped by the PR company, suggesting that her now-famous webcast gigs from her basement didn't really happen.
Of course, this always happens. When the Arctic Monkeys rose to fame independently, rumours that they were manufactured and didn't write their own songs sprung up. Now that Sandi Thom's single is nearing the top spot and her debut album, Smile It Confuses People is due for release (June 5) some media are reporting that the web gigs and accompanying hype have all been a scam.
Sadly they are forgetting that Sandi Thom is talented. Yes, the 'broadcasting her gig on to the Internet to 70,000 people from the basement of her South London flat' is a good newsy angle, but the gigs did happen, and thanks to the success of those and some clever 'viral marketing' (where e-flyers were mailed out) the story of Sandi Thom, has captured plenty of music-lovers.
We live in a world rammed with marketing messages, PR ploys, hype and advertising. As long as a webcast happened and Sandi caught the attention of a label to sign her, who cares how the public got to hear about her. Whether the story is a scam or not, it's innovative, and that's good! If Ms Thom had no talent, sure, you might question it - look at the Crazy Frog - zero talent but huge ads to exploit kids and a huge hit is borne. Now that deserves questioning, but Sandi Thom? She's great, she writes her own stuff and she's innovative, what music needs.
