It's Your Choice

According to The Training Foundation, more and more young people are starting and completing apprenticeships. The DfES (Department for Education and Skills) adds that an increasing number of young people are finding ways of exploring their own creativity outside of formal education settings, while many are traveling and learning during gap years.

In recent years young people are getting involved in campaigns and causes they believe in. Young people are looking online to get help for their problems and finding new channels to explore across various media. There's so much to get involved in, so much to choose from.

Meanwhile the "MySpace generation" is connecting with more people and uncovering more points of contact and information than the generation before it. There's a whole host of unsigned band competitions and workshops, from Hugo Urban Rules and Rhyme4Respect to X Factor and beyond. Today's young people have more opportunities and more choice than ever before.

"With the advent of downloads, the internet and the worldwide web, I think a lot of people have got a lot more avenues to get their stuff out there," says Galaxy FM DJ Steve Sutherland.
