Ellie Goulding and Tinie Tempah Top Charts

Tinie Tempah

Ellie Goulding sits at number one in the UK album chart this week. Her debut album Lights entered the charts at number one.

Winner of the critics choice award at the Brits 2010, 23 year old Ellie also won the BBC's Sound of 2010 poll. It seems fingers have been on the correct pulse, with her debut album Lights knocking Lady Gaga from the top spot this week.

Elsewhere in the UK album chart Jason Derulo scored a new entry with his self titled album entering at number eight. Other new entries came from John Barrowman at 11 with his self titled record, Sharleen Spiteri at 13 with The Movie Songbook and Simply Red at 25 with Songs of Love. Groove Armada entered the chart at 26 with Black Light, crooner Dean Martin came in at 27 with That's Amore and folk songstress Joanna Newsom saw her new record Have One On Me enter at 28.

The second album from Alphabeat, The Beat Is, entered the chart at 39. This was followed by another new entry, Matt Monro with The Greatest, at 40.

South London rapper Tinie Tempah sat proudly atop the UK singles chart this week, with his track Pass Out. The 21 year old MC soared to the top, followed by Rihanna at two with Rude Boy, Jason Derulo at three with In My Head, non-mover Ellie Goulding at four with Starry Eyed and Florence and Dizzee Rascal down three at number five with their collaboration You Got The Dirtee Love.

New entries into the singles chart this week came from Wiley at eight with Never Be Your Woman and Boyzone at nine with Gave It All Away.

Outside the top ten, new singles came from Gramophonedzie at 12 with Why Don't You, Daisy Dares You at 13 with Number One Enemy featuring Chipmunk, Black Eyed Peas at 23 with Rock That Body, Mary J Blige at 34 with I Am, Mumford and Sons at 37 with The Cave and The Glee Cast at 38 with Defying Gravity.
