George Michael Tops UK Album Chart
George Michael's greatest hits collection Twenty Five went straight in at number one in the UK album chart, as the singer kicked off the UK leg of his tour on Friday, his first tour in 15 years. Best of/Greatest hit compilations dominated the album chart this week. Jamiroquai - High Times The Singles, slipped from one to number two, and Sugababes Overloaded - The Singles greatest hits album went in at number three. The Sound of Girls Aloud, another Best of compilation album slipped to number four.
Currently being dubbed the fastest-selling debut album by a classical act in UK chart history, All Angels debuted at number nine with their self-titled album.
Other new entries in the UK album chart included Tenacious D who entered the chart at 10 with their The Pick Of Destiny album, closely followed by Simon Webbe at number 11 with his Grace album. Depeche Mode went straight in at number 18 with their Best Of - Volume 1 compilation, ex dustman Andy Abraham scored a top 20 hit with his Soul Man album entering the chart at number 19, followed by Yusuf with his An Other Cup album. All Saints Studio 1 album entered the chart at number 40. However, the girls topped the Download chart with their comeback single, Rock Steady.
