Their album has also beaten off stiff competition which came in the form of Razorlight, who charted at number four with their album Slipway Fires. Razorlight were beaten to third position in the charts by the Greatest Hits collection of Enrique Iglesias.
The top five albums in the official UK Album Chart were completed by Snow Patrol and their album A Hundred Million Suns.
Other new entries in the album chart saw classic rockers Status Quo chart at number eight with their most recent collection, Pictures - 40 Years Of Hits.
In the UK singles Chart the X Factor Finalists held onto the top spot with their cover of Mariah Carey's hit single Hero.
The highest new entry in the chart came in the form of If I Were A Boy, a ballad from US pop sensation Beyonce.
The UK singles chart continued a strong dominance from independent women this week, with new entries from the following lovely ladies.
Girls Aloud charted at number three with The Promise, which was followed by a new entry from the infamous Britney Spears with her latest single Womanizer at number four. Katy Perry followed with Hot N Cold at number five.
Remianing new entries in this weeks singles chart came from former X Factor winner Leona Lewis who charted at number seven with her single Forgive Me, closely followed by former member of UK girl group Mystique, Alesha Dixon, charting at number eight with her solo single The Boy Does Nothing
