And now James Bond composer David Arnold has confirmed to BBC 6 Music that this news is false.
The group - famous for hits like Strict Machine and Ride A White Horse - were reportedly in "final negotiations to provide the title track for new 007 adventure Casino Royale", which stars Daniel Craig as the suave spy.
Artists to have recorded Bond themes in the past, include former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney, Madonna, Tina Turner and Dame Shirley Bassey.
Goldfrapp are currently touring Europe and play T in the Park on July 8th. Their most recent single is the fantastic Fly Me Away. And some papers reported that Alison Goldfrapp had confirmed the band would be recording the track, however, it seems that the composer for Casion Royale is still under wraps.
