Gorillaz Launch New Web Shop

Having launched the world's biggest virtual band, revolutionized the music video and raised the bar for band websites the Gorillaz team are turning their attention to their online shop, with the guidance of site designer Jamie Hewlett and his studio team at Zombie Flesh Eaters.

www.gorillaz.com, which won YAHOO website of the year award in 2002, is an innovative, interactive maze with the feel of an adventure game and racked up an astonishing 10,000,000 page impressions last month - and now it has the retail outlet to match.

The brand new interactive, virtual Gorillaz shop has been built as one more room in the rambling ruin that is the band's online home, Kong Studios.

Users can move around the room, rifling through the clothing rails and browsing the goods on the shelves, while attempting to avoid the shady shopkeeper character. Clicking on any item will bring up a mini shop window containing the full details and purchase options. Buyers will able to pick up a flash catalogue to assist them with their shopping list. The catalogue will also have a 'send to a friend' button so that the catalogue can be easily passed on amongst fans.
