Green Day and Black Eyed Peas Top Charts!

Boom Boom Pow, the first single from the Black Eyed Peas in three years, has shot straight to the top of the UK singles chart this week.

As a result of their chart success, the Black Eyed Peas forced former number one Numba 1 by Tinchy Stryder to end it's three week reign and chart at number two this week.

La Roux's In For The Kill charted at number three, followed by Eminem's We Made You and Lily Allen's Not Fair charting at four and five respectively.

The next new entry into the singles chart is another release from Eminem. Taken from his forthcoming album Relapse, the single Beautiful charted at 38 this week.

Other new entries into the singles chart came from Shontelle and Akon, whose duet Stuck With Each Other charted at number 39 and Bill Withers, whose classic ballad Ain't No Sunshine jumped 154 places to chart at 40, thanks to 17 year old Shaun Smith's performance of the song on Britain's Got Talent.

Green Day celebrated their second ever number one album this week, as 21st Century Breakdown, the eighth album in the Green Day catalogue, charted at number one.

21st Century Breakdown develops on the themes of Green Day's previous best selling album American Idiot. Another concept record, the album tells the story of a young couple on the run from the American dream.

This was followed by Lily Allen at number two with It's Not Me, It's You, Lady GaGa's The Fame at three, Invaders Must Die by The Prodigy at four and Pink's Funhouse, which completed the top five albums.

The second highest new entry in the album charts came from geordie rockers Maximo Park, whose third album, Quicken The Heart, charted at number six.

Other new entries came from Jim Reeves, whose Best Of charted at number nine, Marmaduke Duke's second release Duke Pandemonium at number 14 and the seventh solo album from Blur guitarist Graham Coxon, The Spinning Top, which entered the album charts at number 36.
