Patrick: ilikemusic because... Music came from the universe...always finding a way into societies from the beginning of time. I imagine it has always been out there waiting for us to show up. I'm so glad we made it!
Just Jack: ilikemusic because... I can’t explain why I like music!
Jo Whiley: ilikemusic because... It makes me laugh and it makes my cry and it gets me out of a stress if I’m in a stress, and, if I’m in a good place then it will make me in a better place. It’s all about the emotion, it’s all about the feeling where music takes you to and what affect it has on you.
simon f baker: ilikemusic because... you can transcend the confines of the material world with it, it's probably better than shagging in fact. There is virtually nothing more satisfying than when a load of chords and words suddenly come together into a song ; suddenly everything in life seems to fit and make sense once more.
Keysor Sose: ilikemusic because... it's the best you can feel legally ;-)
Kat Vipers: ilikemusic because... There's not many other things to like.
Master Gee: ilikemusic because... It gives me an opportunity to truly express myself, unlike what happens in an everyday living situation where there are restrictions on you and limitations on you and demands on you and bills to pay, through music I can truly be comfortable with who I am, and do what I really want to do and say what I really want to say.
JLo-Sully: ilikemusic because... ITS LIKE MY LIFE I HAVE BEEN SINGING ALL MY LIFE AND IF IT WASNT FOR THE MUSIC OR MY MODELING IV JUST GOT THROGH I PROBABLY WOULN'T BE HERE SO THANX N-DUBZ U THE BEST EVERY X
Riot! Traffic: ilikemusic because... music is LiFe...and more than...Following the phenomenal success achieved in their inaugural year, the INDY Music Awards return in 2008 with a host of exciting and fresh new developments. Shifting focus from London to the whole of the UK this year, the awards will recognise and reward even more independent venues, promoters and artists than ever before and continue to highlight the very best in emerging live music.
200 venues and promoters have already registered for this year's awards, while organisers are keen to encourage even more to register and nominate their favourite independent artists that have impressed them over the last year.
Once the registration closes, the public can begin to cast their votes for their favourite nominated artists at www.indyawards.co.uk from 1st February until 31st March.
There will be stiff competition for the awards, which have now been extended to 19 categories including, Best Electronica Act, Promoter of the Year, three Venue Of The Year Awards and an Inspiration Award.
The full shortlist, based on the top four most popular artists in each of the 13 musical categories will be announced in early April before being reviewed by an Industry Panel who will decide the overall award winners.
