Jazz Cafe Picnic - Marble Hill, London

So its a Sunday and I'm still feeling a little slow from my previous evening, and I need to chill. Lucky for me I have tickets to the most relaxed and enjoyable event this side of Zion. Ahhh, I'm going to the Jazz Cafe Picnic at Marble Hill, London.

With unsettling clouds above, an undeterred crowd of 8000 set to enjoy the warm and welcoming 66 acre English Heritage grounds of Marble Hill, for the second helping of this seasons Jazz Cafe Picnic.

Wicker baskets out, blankets packed and a healthy collection of light bites, beer, wine and a couple of champagne flutes, and we were set. Oh, we also chucked in an umbrella for good measure.

We arrived to the introduction of the ever present compere Normski, whilst DJ Don kept the music gentle and welcoming. Warm folk were already well in character and some scrumptious looking picnics were in full flow. Family, friends, young and old were all joined by the enjoyment of good music in the gorgeous Marble Hill surroundings.

We soon found our turf and settled in to an afternoon and evening that can only be described as 'laid back'. It wasn't long before we became familiar and quite neighbourly with our fellow picnickers. This was an atmosphere that echoed throughout the entire sold-out event. Very enjoyable indeed. Cheers!

There is virtually nothing more satisfying than when a load of chords and words suddenly come together into a song ; suddenly everything in life seems to fit and make sense once more.
