Keeping It Peel: John Peel Day 2007
Today is the third John Peel Day - Thursday October 11th 2007, marking exactly three years since the DJ's last Radio 1 show.
After the massive success of John Peel Days in 2005 and 2006, BBC Radio 1 are again inviting you to join the celebration of John's legacy and live music by putting on your own gigs. In addition Radio 1 will be staging a very special show at the Electric Proms, with Siouxsie Sioux, Agaskodo Teliverek and Radio Luxembourg.
John Peel was a man who meant so much to the music industry. And this year, the day will again be a celebration of John's life and massive contribution to music/broadcasting with as many venues as possible staging gigs across the UK under the banner of Peel Day.
In 2005, the first John Peel Day, New Order headlined a tribute gig to John on the eve of John Peel Day, while Sir Elton John, Roger Daltrey, Robert Plant, David Gilmour and Pete Shelley of the Buzzcocks performed at the Royal Albert Hall last year for a John Peel Tribute Concert.
