Kanye West Wins UK Chart Battle with 50 Cent

50 Cent has lost out to Kanye West in their head-to-head chart battle. Kanye West has beaten rival 50 Cent to secure a number one in this week's UK album chart as 50 Cent's Curtis album entered at number two, behind Kanye West's Graduation album.

50 Cent earlier vowed to retire from making solo albums if his album was outsold by Kanye West. He is now blaming his record label for poor promotion and "dropping the ball". In the single's chart Kanye's Stronger single also retained its strength and stayed ahead of 50 Cent's Ayo Technology single.

KT Tunstall's Drastic Fantastic album went straight in at number three, while Natalie Imbruglia entered the album chart at number five with her greates hits compilation, Glorious.

Sean Kingston retained his number one position at the top of the UK singles chart for the third week in a row with his Beautiful Girls single. Plain White T's remained at number two with Hey There Delilah, with Kanye's Stronger in third place. James Blunt climbed to number four with his new single, 1973, while 50 Cent entered the singles chart at five with Ayo Technology. You Don't Know What Love Is by The White Stripes was a new entry at number 18.

Late stars, Pavarotti and Elvis both made the top 20 in the singles chart. Luciano Pavarotti climbed from 24 to 12 with Nessun Dorma, while Elvis Presley entered the chart at number 14 with Party, previously a hit in 1975. And in the album chart too, late stars made an impact. 30 years after his death, glam rock star Marc Bolan's T-Rex's greatest hits album went straight in at number 15. Pavarotti's Ultimate Collection rocketed 180 places to number 17.
